Song in More Than a Decade, “The Tide”

Oscar Nominee Sam Ashworth and Slocum Co-Produce
First Single from Forthcoming Nash Solo Album Due Out 2024,
Penned by Nash, Ashworth, Slocum and Ruby Amanfu

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 14, 2023) — Singer/songwriter Leigh Nash revels in the power of the tide as a source of inspiration, renewed energy and creativity. The results can be heard on her forthcoming single, “The Tide,” releasing September 22 on Visionary Media Group, available for pre-save now. This is Nash and Matt Slocum’s first-ever co-writing credit together and marks the first new Sixpence None The Richer track in more than a decade and the first ever Sixpence co-write released commercially.

Nash, the voice behind global hits such as “Kiss Me” and “There She Goes” with her band Sixpence None The Richer, exercised her collaborative and songwriting skills on 2021’s The Tide, Vol. 1 by partnering with a dream team of duet partners including Raul Malo, Vince Gill, Ruby Amanfu, Matt Maher, husband Stephen Wilson Jr., CeCe Winans and Tanya Tucker.

On this month's release she teams with friends Sam Ashworth (2021 Best Original Song Academy Award nominee for “Speak Now”), powerhouse vocalist Ruby Amanfu (who sang/co-wrote with Leigh on Vol. 1’s “Good Trouble”) and longtime Sixpence bandmate Matt Slocum.

Of the track Nash says, “I am in love with ‘The Tide,’ and I hope it’s a hint of things to come, and hopefully a breath of fresh air after all these years! It was wonderful to invite Ruby and Sam into the writing process. Sam has been in our orbit since he was 16, and Ruby and I became close when we collaborated with Matt Maher to write ‘Good Trouble.’ Combine that with Matt and Sam producing it together, and it was a very sweet way to get our feet wet, and find water in the desert.”

The release of “The Tide” paves the way for her forthcoming solo album release in 2024.

Meanwhile, Nash will spend part of October on a run of co-headlining dates with Jeremy Lister, with special guest Kaleb Jones, and fronting several dates for iconic band 10,000 Maniacs. For more tour information and tickets, visit: www.leighnash.net/tour.

About Leigh Nash:

For more than a quarter century, Leigh Nash’s instantly recognizable voice has been a fixture in modern pop, from her days as frontwoman for Sixpence None The Richer to her more recent output as an Americana solo artist and more recently the frontwoman for several fall 10,000 Maniacs dates.

Rooted in the southern sounds that previously underscored albums like 2015's The State I'm In (her first Top 40 hit on Billboard's country chart), The Tide, Vol. 1 FOUND Nash working alongside other mainstays of modern music. Featuring collaborations with country icons like Vince Gill and Tanya Tucker, gospel singer CeCe Winans, and the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Ruby Amafu, the EP features a range of duets that highlight the full span of Nash's artistic interests. The record also earned Leigh Nash her first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, marking another milestone for a lifelong musician who recorded platinum-certified hits like "Kiss Me" while in her early twenties.
